Re: Civilization
You have some men create bronze shovels, and you dig into the sand. You dig out some tunnels, but it's kind of hard because it's sand. You have salamanders leading the digging crew, glass-ifying the ceiling as you go. You now have some tunnels around the town, with glass ceilings. You also discovered glass, allowing you to put glass windows into your homes, making your people happier!

Re: Civilization
You send out some scouts and find some Peregrine Falcons. They're pretty big for their size, and so you cage them up. You do the same thing you did with salamanders, putting the biggest ones in cages together so they can mate.

Re: Civilization
After some testing, you discover a way to train the falcons/salamanders to make them faster. You set up obstacle courses for them to take daily, making them more agile and quick. They can also endure much more. The falcon's growth is coming along extremely nicely, and is almost large enough for a child to ride just already. The salamanders are now able to go much faster then a normal man due to the testing, and the falcons can easily reach 205 mph peak in a hunting dive, and ~80 mph at normal flight.

Re: Civilization
You send some men out into the mountains with some shovels and adapted 'spears' that are more of pickaxes, and they come back with a grayish ore. You give it to your blacksmiths, and they melt it like they do anything else, and discover it is malleable under heat, like the bronze. Soon enough, you create Iron Lances. One of the people catering to the animals suggests you create iron claws for the massive falcons, that are now large enough for a teenager to ride upon. Your blacksmiths do so, creating some large Iron Claws. You click them into place on the falcons.

Re: Civilization
You have some of the current-sized Peregrine Falcons just breed amongst themselves, no-longer having them continue to grow, staying at teenager sized. The project continues, of course, but you took out some of the falcons to be used in a coming of age ceremony. Your teenagers, upon reaching their 15th year of age (remember, life-span is short) they mount upon a large falcon which is untrained, and they must break it in as a riding animal. If they succeed, they can keep that falcon, and if they fail, then they are shunned by the village. As a result, your men are much happier, and your men are stronger because of the ceremony. The ceremony is quite dangerous, so there are a few deaths, but not like they matter. Soon enough, strategies will be in place, and the deaths will be minimal.
