Civilization
Not your typical adventure story, this will be one about building a civilization and thusly dealing with the hardships that come with it.
Your father, who was the village leader of your small hunter-gatherer tribe has just passed away and has left you with the responsibility for leading your people to glory. Where will you settle?
A. Forest
B. Desert (with a nearby river)
C. Mountains
D. Beach
Base stats:
Population: 100
Food: Scarce
Architecture: Mud Huts
Weapons: Sticks and Rocks
Tech: None
First one to get 2 votes wins, or if everything gets 1 vote, first person to vote gets his wish after 3 hours if noone else votes.

Re: Civilization

- Reply to OP:
I just mean that basically if that's the way you decide then first vote wins by default, cos there's only 4 potential votes and even that many is unlikely to be put in in three hours; unless two of us really didn't want Ben's vote to get through, it's already decided.Vayguss wrote:i don't roll because it's civilization, decided by the votes of people

Tl;dr, by your system it's desert already because there is not much chance of even one more vote for anything coming in between this post and three hours since the first vote.
There's just not enough people on here for that kind of poll IMO.
Re: Civilization
REGARDLESS
You settle in the desert. You have your troops set up camp and then you have to decide what to do from here.
BREAKING NEWS: You settled upon a nest of salamanders! They singe a couple of your tribe to death. This makes your tribe awe and respect the salamanders. What will you do about the salamanders?
Population: 95
Food: Scarce
Architecture: Mud Huts
Weapons: Sticks and Rocks
Tech: None
A. Put them in mud boxes and use them as animals and weaponry
B. Have your tribe worship them, creating a Salamander God
C. Kill them all and eat the small amounts of meat that you harvest
D. Study them
E. Whatever you can think of
(Also I'll now roll to choose from the votes (after 3 hours, or if 2 people vote then 15 minutes after the second person voted), or if something gets 2 votes then I'll go with that)

Re: Civilization
A. Use them as livestock. Start breeding selectively for size, trying to create a breed of large, tame salamanders usable as combat mounts.
Re: Civilization
You cage them up and pick out the top 3 largest of the males and top 3 largest of the females and you put them aside in a separate cage to have them mate. Your population expands somewhat.

B. Improve architecture, mud ain't keepin' those giant riding lizards at bay for long.
Re: Civilization
You architect it up the buttholes. While exploring your new lands and getting your bearings, one of your scouts comes across a brown deposit of something nearby the river. You discover that it hardens when it is dry! You use it as a building material after deciding it would be a grand building material. You use it in the cages of your salamanders now.

Re: Civilization
Whilst scouting around your area, you discover a species of edible plants nearby your camp. You add them to the food stockpile and start rationing them out to the citizens. You also use the clay as small vessels for water.
BREAKING NEWS! Your salamanders were using their fire on their cage, and the person in charge of watching the salamanders noticed that the parts of the cage that they used fire upon was harder, and more brittle then the rest of the cage. One thing leads to another, and you have a small fire-pit where villagers go to for recreation, using small amounts of clay to craft them into gifts for their children or friends. The village is much happier now with the better food and recreation! Population is booming!

Re: Civilization
You send out some scouts to find something to work as medicine or otherwise performance enhancing drugs, and soon enough they return. They have some leaves which make your people faster when ground up and snorted, and some other leaves that make your people's heads feel clearer upon being eaten. They are now in high demand. You have yet to notice adverse side-effects.
BREAKING NEWS! Your salamanders are now large enough to be ridden by children and teenagers.

Re: Civilization
You send out some scouts to the mountains, and they discover a small brownish material, as well as a silvery ore. You take some samples, and you smelt them together, making bronze. You discover the metals are quite hard and would make good weaponry, as they can be malleable when put under heat from the fire.
BREAKING NEWS! The 'baby boom' has ended. Your salamanders are now also large enough to be rode by young adults! Soon they will be fully grown to the size of being rode by anyone in your camp.
